Silas Wendell Holmes, Jr., MDBoard Certified Orthopedic Surgeon Sports Medicine Specialist

S. Wendell Holmes Jr., MD, received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, where he currently serves as a clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery. He completed his internship at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia and his residency at Palmetto Health Richland and Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, South Carolina. He completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute (under Chairman James Andrews, MD) in Birmingham, Alabama, and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Holmes' specialties and clinical interests include sports medicine, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization, cartilage replacement/repair techniques (Carticel, OATS), elbow arthroscopy, elbow reconstruction, medial meniscus root reconstruction, superior capsular reconstruction (SCR), Tommy John ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction and total shoulder reconstruction.
